I've spent 741 days on this platform and briefly became a partner upon my initial signup. However, my partner status was revoked following an update to their eligibility criteria. Although the criteria were later adjusted to what seems more fair, I remain unimpressed by the outcome.
Despite sharing my stories on LinkedIn, the visibility remains disappointingly low. My articles related to gaming have attracted over a thousand views, yet those views weren't monetized.
It's clear that younger audiences, likely to read video game articles, aren't inclined to purchase a Medium membership. It appears that significant earnings on this platform are exclusive to those who can publish through prominent publications. Without such access, gaining views, let alone reads from paying members, seems unattainable.
The requirement to be a paying Medium member to earn through their partner program feels exploitative, as the platform benefits more from user subscriptions than what most contributors will ever earn, unless they are already prominent with a large following and access to major publications. This reality is disheartening.
I have an article I just put out about 24 hours ago you should check out. You will know it when you see it I'm not even going to say the title.
Basically if you're not talking about making money on medium you're not going to make any money on Medium. If that article is not repeated over and over and over in a million different ways in giant publications here on medium then you're not going to make it at all.
The amount of gatekeeping around publication access on medium is disgusting. It's a big club and you ain't in it.
